Walgreens is a great store to shop at and you can score some fabulous deals but there are some guidelines to know that will help make shopping there easier!
Register Rewards
The first thing to know is that Walgreens offers Register Rewards (RR) for particular items purchased. Register Rewards are manufacturer coupons that print from the Catalina machine after you make a qualifying purchase. These coupons can be used like cash on your next purchase.
If you complete more than one Register Reward (RR)purchase per transaction a RR will print out per qualifying item. You cannot however buy several of the same item and get more than one RR. Only one RR will print.
You cannot use more RR and manufacturer coupons than items purchased. This is called the coupon to item ratio. For example you can use 2 manufacturer coupons and 1 RR for 3 items, but you couldn’t use 2 coupons and 1 RR for 2 items. There may be times where you will want to add a cheap filler item to your purchase to make sure you have more items than coupons.
Another very important thing to know is that Register Rewards do not “roll.” This means that you cannot buy an item and get a RR for that purchase and then buy the same item again and use the RR to pay for it from the previous purchase. It won’t print! You can however use a RR to pay for a different item that generates a RR.
If a Register Reward does not print check to make sure that you bought exactly the right variety of product that was suppose to generate a RR. If you still feel you should have received a RR save your receipt and call the Catalina company directly at 1-888-8coupon. They will ask for your receipt information and review it. If you truly should have received the RR one will be mailed to you within 2-3 weeks.
Walgreens Coupons
Walgreens puts out their own store coupons every month in a monthly coupon book as well as in their weekly ad. Walgreens coupons can be stacked with manufacturer coupons and Walgreens coupons do not count towards your coupon to item ratio! This means you can use a manufacturer coupon and a Walgreens coupon to buy just one item. Remember though that RR do count as manufacturer coupons not Walgreens coupons.
Always hand over manufacturer coupons before Walgreens coupons. This will allow you to get coupon overage to go towards other items if the coupons and avoid coupon beepage (meaning the register will beep and not allow the coupon).
Buy One Get One Free Items
If there is a Buy One Get One Free or a Buy Get One 50% Off promotion you can use 2 coupons (one for each of the items). You can also use a Buy One Get One Free coupon for items that are part of the Buy One Get One Free promotion. This makes both items FREE! The Walgreens Coupon Policy specifically states “When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased.” If the net price does go below zero ask the cashier to adjust the value of the coupon.
Walgreens Coupon Policy
I would definitely suggest familiarizing yourself with the Walgreens Coupon Policy. You may even consider printing it out and keeping it with you when you shop at Walgreens in case any issues may arise.
